Apple Is The Mobile Revenue Leader

It should be no surprise that Apple is the Mobile revenue leader, collecting 1/2 of the $200 billion in revenue earned by the top four leaders.  The others in this top revenue group are Google, Amazon, and Facebook.

Apple was the first major technology company to embrace the Post-PC Age, even at the possible loss to its main core PC business. However, while embracing this Post-PC Age, Apple’s core business of PCs has actually grown, contrary to the creative destruction model.

These four companies accounted for 76% of the worldwide app downloads and revenue last year.  The big payoff is expected to grow at an annual rate of 35% , from $10 billion in 2011 to $43 billion in 2015.  That compares to only 10% annual growth of mobile device sales.

Take Away:  It is great news that the majority of the growth in the mobile market is apps and advertising, not device sales.  This leaves the major share of the mobile revolution growth open to small and mid-sized businesses.  Has your company joined the revolution?
